The 100 Books Challenge
Objective: Classes will compete against each other to read 100 books in 100 days!
Purpose: To make our silent reading time at school purposeful, to encourage reading for enjoyment and to incite a competitive spirit in our language classes.
The Incentive: Each class meeting the 100 Books Challengewill celebrate with a grand party on Thursday, February 16. And of course, your PRIDE!!
The Rules:
- Each grade has 100 school days to read 100 books of their own choice.
- Each student in every class must read at least one bookin order for a class to finish.
- Students must select novels at their appropriate reading level.
- Students MUST read books that are NEW to them!!!
- After reading, students must post a review of their book on the internet as directed by Mrs. Jacobs.
- Once the review has been posted and approved by Mrs. Jacobs, your book will count in your class tally.
So start reading now!!
Many Prizes will be awarded such as:
First class to 100
Class with best participation
Individual reading most books
Individual writing best book responses
and many more!
Canspell Spelling Bee Competition:
Students in grades 4-8 will participate in a school-wide spelling bee in January to determine our school champion, who will go on to represent us in the regional compeition in Lethbridge. Dates TBA. For more information, check out the Canspell Website.
