Grade 7/8 Literature Groups

As an opportunity to study elements of fiction the grade 7/8 language class has started a new novel study using literature circles as the format. The class is divided into 6 groups with each group reading a different novel. Daily, the students will have a group activity related to some element of fiction such as setting, mood, characterization, theme, etc. As well, groups will be expected to maintain a reading schedule as outline by Mrs. Jacobs. By Monday, October 19 all groups should have completed reading through chapter 3 of their novel. Reading schedules will vary depending on the length of the novel. Students will be expected to complete some of the reading at home in order to keep up with their group. I challenge parents to ask their students about their novel and maybe even read a few chapters with them.
